RUNNING

Introduction: Running club happens weekly in the morning at 6:15AM to help runners improve either speed or distance.

L.O.'s:

  • LO1 - When working on speed, I timed myself for a certain number of laps and compare it with last week's time. If it's lower, then I try doing extra leg training such as doing jump ropes more frequently during my free time at home. When working on distance, I come much earlier than the start of running club (sometimes 5:30AM) to do continuous running for a set goal of the number of rounds to run. I time myself too for this in case I want to improve my speed for the longer distance.

  • LO2 - Running is definitely a challenge undertaken as this is not a sport I am particularly good at. I always push myself at the last round to run at my 75%, and at the last 200m, I sprint all the way to the end. If I do not improve in time, I always ensure that I do extra work out for my legs to get stronger. I've also been involved in unfamiliar situations, such as participating in the fun runs, wherein I run a much longer distance than what I regularly run at in running club.

Wednesday, September 2, 2015

This morning, I attended the running club and was able to run 5 rounds of the parcel. Because I arrived earlier than anyone else, I finished earlier, and so I just walked extra 2 rounds around the field. After the session, the teacher gave me an advice that next time we have running, I’ll jog then sprint, then jog then sprint. I thought that this was a great idea, as this would be help improve on my speed.

Wednesday, September 16, 2015

I ran 7 rounds around the parcel and walked 1 round after during running club today. My time for the 7 rounds is 22:10. The teacher asked me whether I’m planning to improve on my time or on my distance, and I wasn’t quite sure yet as I might want to improve my distance first before improving on my time. My goal for next running session is to run 8 rounds and walk 1 round after.

September 23, 2015

This morning, I ran 8 rounds in 20:15 minutes, which I thought was impressive, as last week, I spent a minute longer in a round shorter. I hope to see more of these progresses in the future as I continue the running club weekly.

September 30, 2015

I was able to run 12 rounds today in 32:40 minutes. I think that I will be working towards increasing my running distance skills rather than speed as for now.

I participated in the fun run hosted by school today at the Urdaneta village as I thought it would be good practice for running, a great help towards charity for service, and just an overall wonderful experience. The run started at 7am, and I ran 5k in 33 minutes. In all honesty, I thought that it was really fun and I’m looking forward to a next run like this. I hope to improve my speed for 5k the next time, and hopefully, running club will help me get better. It truly was a great experience and I’m glad I’ve joined it, knowing it was also for a good cause.

Wednesday, October 28, 2015

I was able to run an extra 2 round in running today. In total, I ran 15 rounds around the parcel in 41 minutes. Next week, I plan to run the same distance, but in shorter time.

Wednesday, November 4, 2015

I ran 15 laps today around the parcel for 40:10 minutes. I am looking forward to increasing my distance next time up to 16 laps.

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

I was only able to run 10 rounds today in the field, taking up 25:35 minutes for that. I hope that next week I will be able to run more rounds. I’ll be trying to come earlier to the running club so that I can run much longer and be able to end on time.

TERM 2

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Ran 10 rounds in Don Jones then ran another 10 in Parcel 2 within 45 minutes- longest distance so far.

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

Ran 12 rounds in Don Jones then ran another 10 rounds in Parcel 2 in 46 minutes! Longest distance and time I've ran so far.

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

I ran 8 rounds in 20 mins during running today. Next time I want to improve on my speed and run 8 rounds in 19 minutes instead.

TERM 3

Wednesday, April 6, 2016

In running club today, I was able to run 8 rounds within 19:35 minutes and think that it’s the fastest time I’ve ever ran for 8 rounds. I hope to improve and run faster as my goal for next time would be running 8 rounds just at 19 minutes flat, if possible!
