ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB

Introduction: 'Green Initiative' is a independent, student-led club wherein students who are passionate about conserving the earth come together to try and promote a more environment-friendly school. I am the vice-president of the 'Green Initiative', and my role is to double-check all work, speeches or articles done before presenting it to the president and to plan on what each meeting would consist of and the goals of it at the end of the meeting.

L.O.'s:

  • LO5 - As a group, we had to communicate and share ideas on ways to promote a more eco-friendly environment for the school. Each of us were given different roles so that we would meet our goal of each meeting effectively each time. All of us listened to everyone's proposals and assisted others that lacked ideas for their essays/speeches/articles.

  • LO6 - We had to be aware of the global issues on climate to be able to talk about it in assemblies and in our produced work. Our goal for this club is to spread awareness of this serious issue to promote a greener and safer future for all of us to live in.

TERM 3

Environmental group

I’ve been allocated to the role of the vice president of the environmental group. My role is to help the president manage the activities, make sure all plans go through, and make sure the rest of the members are doing what they’re told to do. Because this is already the final term of this school year, we discussed about realistic goals of what we can do before the end of the year. We’ve come up with:

  1. Having a speech about environmental awareness during a whole school assembly (most preferably before the end of April)

  2. Have advertisements around school that promote environmental consciousness.

We have the communication team to email the head of senior school about whether these goals are possible to be completed within this term and are still waiting for the reply.

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

During the environmental ASA today, we all did our part in making the speech for assembly next week. In the speech, we talked about our goals, what we do, and what others can do to help support us, such as shutting lights and air conditioning when not in use. Our speech is around 3 minutes long, and we hope that it will make some difference sharing our thoughts and ideals in front of the school!

Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Our meeting consisted of our plans for the future of 'Green Initiative'. We talked about how we would consider speaking again in front of assembly about conserving electricity as it is one of the bigger problems of our school. Moreover, we thought about possibly writing an article about vegetarianism and all the environmental, health and ethical advantages of it and brainstormed ideas on how we could approach this problem.
